The 3rd Yamamaruto Bike Meeting! Part 1

I participated for the first time in the Yamamaruto Bike Meeting, an event hosted by our company every year in October!
A new rider who joined the company this year and obtained his license in August for this event reports on the event!

Unfortunately, the forecast was for rain on the day of the event, and the all staff members were preoccupied with the weather for several days before the event.

Furthermore, at the morning meeting two days before the event, the president made a shocking comment: “We will now make the motorcycle covers for the event!”
All staffs including me were popped out “???”, at the same time, thought “What are you talking about!”
I will documented the process of how a product is made in this emergency project.

The first step is to determine the shape of the product, create a paper pattern, and write it into the cutting data. After cutting a rolled fabric called “raw fabric,” it is sewn. Then ,until the final process of folding and packaging is completed in almost one day.
I was amazed that the craftsmen handled their job so quickly!

Part 1: Factory tour

The gifts were satisfactorily completed, and now it was time for the event day!
The weather was rainy as predicted. The rain was even heavier than forecasted.
The staffs were filled with anxious, but the Yamamarutors gathered one after another at the Okubo Plant!

It was a great pleasure to talk with so many people during the factory tour!
I always work in the office, so this was the first time for me to see the factory work so closely, and it was a very valuable time for me!
(I know you will say I don’t have enough in-house training…)

After the tour, everyone moved to the break room in second floor break room, to give to the participant gifts !
This coin purse is made from scraps that inevitably come out during the production process of handle covers.

We took a group photo with everyone at the end and departed for the venue of the second part of the event!
The president was supposed to lead the team and I was supposed to follow at the end, but we had to abandon the plan this time due to the rain. I was very unfortunate, but I will practice so that I can run with you all next year!

See next time for the second part!
