I participated in the GRAND CYCLE TOKYO Rainbow Bridge Ride 2024. Many bicycle enthusiasts participated in this 35 km long event, which allows to bike through the Rainbow Bridge and the Tokyo Gate Bridge.
This time, since it was a 35 km biking, my partner is a DAHON DASH ALTENA folding bike. As a bicycle bag, the “Tour Bag RK-ZD” is an easy way to carry a folded bicycle. It is easy to use! Simply put on the top and pull the string to close.
When I was preparing my bicycle with other participants at Shinagawa station, my bicycle bag that used in this time was attention as convenience for preparing from other participants.
I told them that the “RK-ZD” is very convenient for folding bicycles, and we said to each other, “Let’s finish the race without any accidents. After that, I biked to the hotel.
The roads in Tokyo were also well maintained with the Blue Line (bicycle lanes), and although there were many traffic signals, the roads were easy to ride on.
Due to the early morning meeting, it was faster to move by bicycle than by public transportation, so I biked from the hotel to the reception location (it was still dark…)
Many cyclists had already gathered at the venue.
Seeing all kinds of bicycles is one of the most exciting parts of a ride event.
While waiting for the start of the race, the Rainbow Bridge comes into view, and my expectation is rising.
Tandem bicycles are allowed to ride on public roads in Tokyo, so some participants were riding on tandem bicycles.
※Tandem bicycles : It’s a bike for two riders
I was surprised that the entire course, not just the Rainbow Bridge, have been traffic regulation after the start, so I was able to ride without stopping anywhere except for aid points.
At the aid, I got a Ningo-yaki (a small cake baked in small an iron mold and is filled with sweet bean paste) to replenish the sugar.
The sweetness of the red bean paste is nice. Ningyo-yaki of the members I biked with were all different shapes!
After replenishing, I biked from Tokyo Gate Bridge (outward) to Wakasu Park to Tokyo Gate Bridge (return), then back to Odaiba and safely reached the goal! After the goal, a commemorative photo was taken in front of the UC Gundam with the members who biked together!
Everyone had lunch at a nearby seafood restaurant before disbanding!
It was a fun ride event.
