Single Motorcycle Trip of the President in Hokkaido 2024 Day1

I am leaving for Hokkaido today.

Time flies quickly, this will be my third trip to Hokkaido by myself. The rules are the same as before.

No reservations. No destination plan. Decide what to do on the day. This time, however, I hope I can find a good restaurant and introduce it to you!

But I am not sure if I will be able to do so!

The hidden theme of this year’s event is “One-week continuous use experiment of a doggy bag”.

This is Japan’s first doggy bag attached in rear.

But because of the experiment, there is no dog as the main subject.

Sorry!

I used our own product, the RC36 rainproof bag cover for bicycles, for the first time as a dry bag and packed 8 days’ underwear.

This RC36 is quite an excellent product.

The opening is wide and protects against water getting in.

The most amazing thing is the large 36-liter capacity.

It holds 8 days’ underwear easily.

So much for the RC promotion,

Now that the weight of the contents has exceeded 10 kilograms, let the experiment begin.

I thought it would be a lonely departure since I was leaving on a Saturday during my day off from work, but at 3:00 pm, six people saw me off.

Thank you very much!

In the middle is my first grandchild.

Once again, I took the Shin Nihonkai Ferry from Maizuru Port to Otaru.

The distance from the head office in Shiso City to Maizuru Port is about 150 km.

It takes about 4 hours.

When I enter Route 9 from National Highway 312, I pass through Wadayama.

Along Route 9, there is Tajima ryokkadoboku Co. that I always request to take care of my garden.

I dropped by for a short visit.

Tajima ryokkadoboku has “good technique, good care, and love for trees”.

This is a Semper Sequoia in the backyard of the company.

The president and all employees are wonderful people.

The company was closed on Saturday.

If you are looking for a garden problem, I recommend Tajima Greening and Civil Engineering!

The Tanabe Castle, where Hosokawa Yusai barricaded during the Battle of Tanabe Castle, is located in Maizuru.

It is past 6:00 p.m., so it is time for dinner.

Near the castle, I spotted a sign for “Japanese Bonghu” and went in.

Not Navy Curry, but the Maritime Self Defense Force “Mashu” captain-approved Beef Curry attracted my attention!

I like the name of the restaurant.

I finished it in 5 minutes!

It was an enjoyable curry with lots of beef tendon and not too spicy.

A little after 7:00 p.m., with stomachs full, I checked my reservations and registered at the ferry terminal.

The process is to get a QR code printed out and get in line for the motorcycle, but I had much time before 11:00 p.m., so I took my time and had a coffee at Komeda Coffee Shop Nishi-Maizuru, about 10 minutes away by motorcycle.

It is still past 7 p.m., but about 10 bikes are already lined up.

The motorcycle lanes change each season, but this time lanes 1, 2, and 3 were allocated to motorcycle.

I ordered the milk noir iced coffee set.

Amazing! Yummy!

It is almost 10 pm. I get in line for my motorcycle.

Before boarding the boat, I show the QR code to the attendant, and now it’s time to board the boat!

I’m leaving now!

That’s all for today. Tomorrow I will be on the ship all day, so I’m worried about the lack of phone waves.

I will report mainly on the ship and the food. See you soon!
