Boss’s solo motorcycle trip in Hokkaido 2023, Day 6
雨が降るかもの予想に反して晴天での出発になりました。襟裳岬方面もまずますの天気予報なので其方に向かってみます。Googleで調べて見ると336号線の広尾から33.5kmが「黄金道路」と呼ばれているみたい。336号線に今日は、お世話になりそうです。
The forecast for rain has turned out to be wrong, and we will be leaving on a sunny day.
The weather forecast for Cape Erimo was also good, so we headed in that direction.
Google shows that the 33.5-km road from Hiroo on Route 336 is called the “Golden Road.
It looks like I will be driving on Route 336 today.
336号線の厚内より道路と海岸がメッチャ近くて、小雨も降って来たし、打ち寄せる波飛沫も混じって雨ぽいので、用心してカッパを着用します。
The road and the coast are much closer than in Atsunai on Route 336, and it is starting to rain lightly, mixed with the spray from the waves, so I take precautions and put on a kappa.
見えますか？前方に白いモヤが掛かっているの。コレ波飛沫が空中に漂っている感じです。小雨にさらされながら、順調に襟裳岬を目指していると、大樹町の地名と「ロケットの町」が目に入って少し寄り道。

It’s like a wave splashing in the air. As I was heading steadily toward Cape Erimo in the light rain, I noticed the name of Taiki Town and “Rocket Town,” so I took a short detour.
SORA 大樹町宇宙交流センターに行って見ました。ロケットで有名になる。壮大で、かっこいいですね。しかし、小雨は、降り続いています。しぶとい！
I visited the Taiki Town Space Exchange Center SORA.
It becomes famous for rockets.
It is magnificent and cool.
However, light rain is still falling. It is stubborn!
広尾に入りました。この辺からですね、「黄金道路」。当時、想像以上に難工事で相当な金額をつぎ込んだのでこの様に呼ばれることになったみたい。トンネルも何本かあったけれど、4km以上有る「黄金トンネル」は、中が寒い寒い、多分温度差が外よりマイナス20度ぐらいの体感。ヘルメットのシールドが曇って前が見えない程でしたよ。

This is where the “Golden Road” begins.
At the time, the construction was more difficult than expected, and a considerable amount of money was spent on it, hence the name.
There were several tunnels, but the “Golden Tunnel,” which was more than 4 km long, was cold inside, and the temperature difference was probably about minus 20 degrees celsius below the outside.
The shield of my helmet fogged up so much that I couldn’t see what was going on in front of me.
襟裳岬に到着。暑い暑い！この頃には雨の心配は全く無くなっていました。

By this time, there was no longer any threat of rain.
折角なので、他では絶対食べられない「昆布ソフト」530円を頼みました。上から振りかけている緑がかったものは、抹茶ではありません、昆布の粉です。味を想像してください。そう、その通りの味です。お口直しに普通のバニラソフトを食べた位です。
Since it was a special occasion, I ordered the “Konbu Soft” for 530 yen, which I could never have anywhere else.
The greenish stuff sprinkled on top is not matcha, but Konbu (kelp) powder.
Imagine the taste.Yes, it tastes just like that.
I even had a regular vanilla soft serve to refresh my palate.
今回の北海道のバイク一人旅も明日を残すのみとなりました。宗谷岬に知床半島、そして襟裳岬。「先っぽ好きやな」と皆さんに言われるかな。北海道は、何処を切り取ってもいい絵になりますね、バイクの一人旅は、人生と同じやなあと感慨に浸っています。ゆっくり行くと時間に追われ、スピードを上げると、良い風景のシャッターチャンスを逃してしまう。目の横を一瞬横切った風景を撮りたくてUターンした事20回以上。また、1キロ以上過ぎてから、やっぱり撮っておこうと引き返したことも。でも、引き返して正解でした。人生、前に進んだり、後退したり、思い悩んで一歩が出なかったり。でも、やった人しか分からない境地のようなものは、確かにありますよね。お世話になった色んな方、本当にありがとうございました。
Tomorrow is the last day of this solo motorcycle trip in Hokkaido.
Cape Soya, Shiretoko Peninsula, and Cape Erimo.
I wonder if people will say, “You like the coastline.
Hokkaido is a picturesque place no matter where I take it off.
I am deeply moved by the thought that traveling alone on a motorcycle is just like traveling through life.
If I go slowly, I am pressed for time, and if I speed up, I miss the shutter chance of a good landscape.
I have turned back more than 20 times to take a picture of a scene that crossed my eyes for a moment.
I have also turned back to take a picture after more than a kilometer had passed.
But it was a good decision to turn back.
In life, I have moved on, I have regressed, and I have not been able to take a step forward because of my thoughts and feelings.
But there is certainly a kind of boundary that only those who have done it can understand.
